Project Name: Design Studio
Project Statement: Office design innovation today demands flexibility, equity, sustainability, and a focus on collaboration and socialization—while still delivering workplace essentials. The design firm embraced these priorities in their newly completed downtown Seattle Studio. Through thoughtful planning, construction, material selection, and MEP integration, the design team applied leading strategies in circularity, adaptability, and inclusive design to realize a dynamic, future-ready workplace.
Spread across the floor, a full city block, is inspired by the urban and natural elements of a Boulevard. This internal “street” connects all of the primary spaces of an office, but more importantly, it connects all staff and visitors in one space that can morph as needed to deliver on collaborative interaction, private work, and social engagement.
A sculptural wood wall and ceiling element along the window line highlight and abstract the idea of a tree lined boulevard with arching wood columns and a wood canopy ceiling. Below it, is a cadence of landscape that provides semi-private space between bays and reinforces the biophilic nature of a boulevard. On the opposite side along the building core the architecture changes, contrasting with more rectilinear and urban forms with a mix of open and closed spaces.
The floor plan is laid out with zones that provide areas of more energized activities to quiet, heads down private spaces – all connected visually and physically to create a new vibe and energy that begins to define a new workplace aesthetic.
