Project Name: Turgeon Raine
Project Statement: With the desire to move to a larger space on a more prominent corner in downtown Seattle, our client tasked us with designing a new showroom that embodies the high level of craft, materiality, sophistication, and beauty seen in the curated and custom jewelry sold within the store. At the core, the design intent needed to welcome a new generation of patrons while at the same time retaining the current customer base. The approach was to reuse and relocate the original casework into the new space to maintain the established brand/design of the existing store into the new location.
The focus on lighting sets this project apart from other similar retail projects. The owner, architect and lighting designer were in close collaboration throughout the design process to mock-up lighting conditions that were color specific to certain gem stones to highlight and enhance each piece of jewelry - in both horizontal and vertical displays.
Notable features include, artisan plasterwork at various locations throughout the show room, custom designed jewelry cases and laser cut metal screen walls. A discrete custom sign elevates the front entry presence. The space has four significant structural columns located in the middle. They are sculpted in plaster and with directional acknowledgment to the south window wall of natural daylight. Custom hardware on the entry doors initiates the customer experience and awareness that details, materiality, and artisan craft are valued and echo that of the jewelry in the store.
